“One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.” -Malala Yousafzai
The teacher works with others to create environments that support individual and collaborative learning, and that encourage positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation.
Desk Groupings
While student teaching in a kindergarten classroom at John S. Clarke Elementary Center, I had the opportunity to change up the seating arrangement however I wanted. Ultimately, I decided to move the students into groups that would encourage collaborative learning.
To promote buy-in to this change, and provide the basis for a classroom management strategy, I allowed the students to create their own "team names" for each group. After creating a logo for each team on Photoshop, I let each group decorate their signs and hung them above each group.
